10 Reasons Why I’d Never Trade My Nokia N900 For An Apple iPad
by Chris on Jan.30, 2010, under Tech
Full disclosure…I’m typing this on a MacBook Pro (barely, I just had shoulder surgery 6 days ago. Almost can’t type). So I’m not totally against Apple products. I don’t mind using them actually. But seriously, if I wasn’t given this MacBook by work I probably wouldn’t be using an Apple product.
Apple finally had their press conference to release their new tablet product. Once I found out what it was, I guess I started to try to figure out if I’d ever have a use for something like that. Couldn’t come up with one reason really, given all the other tech gadgets that I can use. Since I’m really into my Nokia N900, I started to compare the two devices. And what I was able to come up with is a lot of reason I would never give up my N900 for the iPad, so here’s why I prefer the N900 to Apple’s newest iStuff. (continue reading…)
N900 is a Hottie
by Chris on Dec.16, 2009, under Tech
She might not be the thinnest, not the smartest, and has a lot of growing up to do…but damn she’s hot! The Nokia N900 is like a new blonde-bombshell girlfriend that all your friends drool over. I’ve been using this pocket computer for a few weeks now, and I’m still completely amazed at how much it can do. So my favorite activities on the N900 so far include: web browsing, listening to podcasts, making Skype phone calls, and game emulation.
Hands down the killer application on the N900 is the MicroB web browser (based on Mozilla technology). This thing is phenomenal at providing a full desktop browsing experience. I haven’t yet run into a page that didn’t display as it does on my desktop computer. I love browsing on the N900! Visit back soon, I’m going to be installing Firefox Mobile (beta) for the N900 this evening. It’s supposed to provide an even better browsing experience with more features. (continue reading…)
Shipped

Well it’s about time! I don’t know what the hold-up was with shipping this device, but it appears as if my order status on my Dell order for the Nokia N900 has finally changed from “in production” to “shipped” tonight. Apparently I should expect it tomorrow some time. I still think that Nokia was caught off guard with the demand for this device. They didn’t really target it at the general public. It was intended for early adopters, tech folks, and developers really. But when the specs of the operating system and hardware came out, I think it caught some good press and started to gain popularity.
Honestly, as we’ve seen in the past, this process of coming out with a hot device and then having a very limited supply has worked quite well for many other companies. Nintendo had a lot of trouble keeping the Wii stocked on shelves the first year it was out, and has since been one of the top selling console game systems. Amazon had the same happen with the Kindle. They weren’t making enough of them fast enough to keep up with the demand. The Wii was sub-par compared to its competitors, and the Kindle just had some really odd design flaws. Regardless, they both are highly successful. It’s possible that this is just a strategy these two companies took to boost the desire of their products but purposely limiting production.
