Rockbox

So, here’s a little tech post for the blog. I’ve been hooked on this ROM replacement for my Sandisk Sansa e250 MP3 player for weeks now. I was tired of the default OS on this thing, not having the features I wanted so I checked out Rockbox over at http://www.rockbox.org and was delightfully surprised at how jam packed this OS is for my MP3 player. It’s an open source platform that is constantly being updated (daily!). Will play videos, do bookmarks, supports plugins, themes, song databases, playlists, and even has a speech engine built in for the menu system (great for in the car), and can play Doom! I highly suggest if you have an iPod or one of their other supported MP3 players that you install a copy of this replacement OS on your device. Check out their supported device list and features list.
