10 Reasons Why I’d Never Trade My Nokia N900 For An Apple iPad

by Chris on Jan.30, 2010, under Tech

Full disclosure…I’m typing this on a MacBook Pro (barely, I just had shoulder surgery 6 days ago. Almost can’t type).  So I’m not totally against Apple products.  I don’t mind using them actually.  But seriously, if I wasn’t given this MacBook by work I probably wouldn’t be using an Apple product.

Apple finally had their press conference to release their new tablet product.  Once I found out what it was, I guess I started to try to figure out if I’d ever have a use for something like that.  Couldn’t come up with one reason really, given all the other tech gadgets that I can use.  Since I’m really into my Nokia N900, I started to compare the two devices.  And what I was able to come up with is a lot of reason I would never give up my N900 for the iPad, so here’s why I prefer the N900 to Apple’s newest iStuff. N900 is a Hottie

by Chris on Dec.16, 2009, under Tech

Hottie1She might not be the thinnest, not the smartest, and has a lot of growing up to do…but damn she’s hot!  The Nokia N900 is like a new blonde-bombshell girlfriend that all your friends drool over.  I’ve been using this pocket computer for a few weeks now, and I’m still completely amazed at how much it can do.  So my favorite activities on the N900 so far include:  web browsing, listening to podcasts, making Skype phone calls, and game emulation.

Hands down the killer application on the N900 is the MicroB web browser (based on Mozilla technology).  This thing is phenomenal at providing a full desktop browsing experience.  I haven’t yet run into a page that didn’t display as it does on my desktop computer.  I love browsing on the N900!  Visit back soon, I’m going to be installing Firefox Mobile (beta) for the N900 this evening.  It’s supposed to provide an even better browsing experience with more features. Linux in your Pocket

by Chris on Nov.17, 2009, under Tech

pic10bI kicked back for a short moment at work today and thought about what make some of these newer cell phones and mobile computing devices so interesting.  Why do we want to have all this power in such a small device?  What makes carrying around a netbook better than lugging around a 15″ laptop?  Why buy an Internet tablet or a mobile phone that can browse the web just as well as a full desktop computer could?

Simple.  Freedom!  The ability to go anywhere and do anything.  It’s all about being able to do things that you used to only be able to do on a computer on your desk at home.  It’s all about taking your music with you, watching your movies and shows on the go, chatting with your friends on social network websites, sharing photos and videos of the places and people you’re visiting.
