Sansa e260

Get ‘em while they’re hot (er…whatever that means)! Woot.com is selling the fantastically cool Sandisk Sansa e260 MP3 player (refurbished) for only $50 today. If you’re in the market for a new mp3 player that does more than just play mp3′s, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is the one for you! I own the smaller version (the e250 at 2 MB) and with Rockbox installed on it, I’d say this this is way better than any iPod (OK, maybe not the Touch) that you can buy today.

So, here’s a little tech post for the blog. I’ve been hooked on this ROM replacement for my Sandisk Sansa e250 MP3 player for weeks now. I was tired of the default OS on this thing, not having the features I wanted so I checked out Rockbox over at http://www.rockbox.org and was delightfully surprised at how jam packed this OS is for my MP3 player. It’s an open source platform that is constantly being updated (daily!). Will play videos, do bookmarks, supports plugins, themes, song databases, playlists, and even has a speech engine built in for the menu system (great for in the car), and can play Doom! I highly suggest if you have an iPod or one of their other supported MP3 players that you install a copy of this replacement OS on your device. Check out their supported device list and features list.
